Samsung is set to redefine kitchen convenience with its latest innovation—the Flex four-door refrigerator featuring AI Family Hub+. This smart fridge, to be showcased at CES next year, boasts an internal chamber equipped with artificial intelligence capabilities. It can identify individual foods and, through a specialized program, curate recipes based on the user’s existing stock or dietary preferences.
The upgraded model builds upon a similar release in 2023, introducing new features like connectivity to the Samsung Health profile via Family Hub. This integration enables the refrigerator to tailor recipes according to the owner’s specific dietary needs, enhancing personalization in meal planning.
Users can stream their Galaxy smartphone screens directly to the Family Hub’s impressive 32-inch touchscreen display. This multifunctional interface not only facilitates recipe suggestions but also offers entertainment options, allowing users to watch videos on popular platforms like TikTok and YouTube.
While the Vision AI feature currently recognizes up to 33 foods, Samsung envisions this smart fridge as a pivotal element in its broader ecosystem of AI-enabled kitchen appliances, including smart ovens. Despite some limitations, users can manually input expiration dates for foods on the touchscreen, receiving timely notifications when items are nearing completion.
Looking ahead, Samsung plans to introduce the Anyplace cooktop model, featuring a pull-out cooktop and a seven-inch LCD screen. This addition further integrates with Samsung Food, providing a seamless cooking experience while expanding the capabilities of AI in the kitchen. Samsung’s innovative approach to smart appliances continues to reshape the future of home living.
