IBM has announced the acquisition of Software AG’s enterprise integration platforms for a substantial €2.13 billion. The acquisition targets Software AG’s StreamSets and webMethods platforms, integral components of the company’s Super Ipaas business launched in October.
These platforms, renowned for their prowess in application integration, application programming interface (API) management, and data integration, align with IBM’s vision to fortify its position in cutting-edge technologies. The move is poised to amplify IBM’s offerings in the rapidly evolving landscape of hybrid cloud solutions and AI-driven innovations.
Christian Lucas, head of the supervisory board of Software AG, expressed enthusiasm about the collaborative potential between StreamSets, webMethods, and IBM. He stated, “The opportunity to bring the StreamSets and webMethods teams together with IBM to innovate in creating the future of hybrid cloud and artificial intelligence solutions for enterprises is unique.”
As the majority owner of Software AG, private equity firm Silver Lake holds a commanding 93.3% stake in the German software company. The transaction’s successful completion hinges on regulatory approvals and is anticipated to finalize in the second quarter of 2024, marking a significant stride in IBM’s strategic expansion into the realm of advanced enterprise technology.
