SpaceX has launched the third-gen Starlink terminal, boasting a slimmer profile, ditching its motorized position adjuster for a sleek stand. Initially available to a select U.S. clientele, this upgraded terminal features a 10% wider field of view, enhancing user connectivity.
The new design sheds weight and thickness while introducing a stand for manual orientation. A notable improvement is the IP67 rating for dust and moisture resistance, making it submersible up to 1 meter for 30 minutes. SpaceX recommends users employ smartphones to locate the nearest satellite and manually align the terminal using the provided stand.
The Starlink package includes a third-gen router with Wi-Fi 6 technology, two Ethernet LAN ports, and mesh compatibility for up to three Starlink Mesh nodes. Weighing 2.9 kg, the terminal operates in temperatures from -30°C to 50°C and sustains winds up to 96 km/h+. Power consumption ranges from 75 to 100 W.
Accompanying the terminal is a robust Starlink Power Supply with an IP66 rating and dimensions of 173 x 93 x 35.75 mm, weighing 0.65 kg. Operating between -30°C to 60°C, it supports 100-240V ~ 2.5A 50-60Hz power specifications.
This SpaceX innovation marks a strategic step forward, enhancing Starlink’s accessibility and functionality for a tech-savvy audience.
